...a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into a household where a family is coming to terms with a [loved one’s] drug addiction. [Whereas] a lot of literature in this genre follows the user themselves and their carelessness, Fairweather puts the focus on the mother and how the family is clearly damaged by the actions of another. It is clear Sturges wanted to capture both the mundanity and the damage caused when dealing with addiction, and did it wonderfully.
