Ask me about directing for… MENCAP, Age Cymru, Intel, AXA Wealth, Rhondda Cynon Taf Borough Council, Hijinx Theatre, QinetiQ.

Bristol’s leading science and arts centre We The Curious commissioned me to direct a series of testimony-driven films for the Project What If new science exhibition, in collaboration with producer Tim Allen at Neon UK. The films explore how our experience of illness shapes our lives and what it means to be happy. You can see the films until 2029 at the Question Constellations exhibition.

Project What If
Inspired by 10,000 questions collected from people from every postcode of Bristol, Project What If is the first major science centre exhibition in the UK inspired entirely by the curiosity of a city’s residents: a space where art and science collide.

For me, the Perceptions of Illness films are powerful because they make us stop and think about what it means to live with a hidden or visible condition, while challenging our preconceptions about health. Everyone featured arrived at the studio bravely prepared to share their story and their deeply felt reflections on their own condition – they were inspiring, warm, kind, generous and great fun to work with.
