SPOT IT. STOP IT.
Countering online misinformation in Europe.
As script and story lead, I helped bring to life Google’s largest EMEA campaign of 2024 – empowering audiences in 27 countries to spot the signs of online manipulation. My role covered everything from research and writing to VO and story direction.
The campaign: Google’s largest EMEA campaign in 2024.
The problem: Online misinformation poses a growing threat to societies worldwide. Jigsaw, Google’s in-house unit tackling digital threats, wanted to empower people across Europe to recognise manipulation techniques and better identify misinformation in super-quick time ahead of European elections.
My role: Scriptwriter, story director and VO director. I concepted, wrote and story-directed three hero films designed to make a complex subject human, accessible and relatable.
Creative response: Agreeing such an important message across 27 diverse European markets demanded rigorous research and stakeholder management. A shared love of crime genre content emerged as a unifying insight. Inspired by this, we created a series of Film Noir-style animations – led by fair-minded, discerning detective Marta – giving the campaign cut-through and cultural relevance while keeping the message clear.
